You may discover one day that your laptop may not charge and that the problem is not the charger. It is more than likely that it is the DC power port on your laptop itself that has stopped working. There are various reasons for this including stress caused to the jack, or a loose connection from plugging and unplugging.
When you have a faulty DC Power Jack users normally experience:
- No power to the laptop
- The battery not charging
- Sparks or a burning smell when it is plugged in
- Charger only working when the jack is held in a certain position
